Tooth decay has been determined to be the most
chronic disease of childhood. Fluoride mouth rinse programs has
been proven to reduced tooth decay by 20-40 % when used in school
based programs.
The Hadley Elementary School conducts a
Fluoride Mouth Rinse Program through out the school year in grades
one through six. Permission slips must be signed to participate
(see Forms). Parent volunteers assist in distributing the mouth
rinse to the classrooms under the supervision of the school
nurse.
The Town of Hadley does not have
fluoridated water. This program is conducted by the Massachusetts
Department of Public Health, Office of Oral Health and is approved
by the Food and Drug Administration.
